#actually most of stampede's characters do that

Hard disagree. I've seen people do nothing BUT talk about it! Must be the circles we run in / what we happen upon. Granted, more people complain about how pale he is in Badlands Rumble (then again, everyone is washed out there, I think the lighting key was off in that movie) - but I see a LOT of people complain about Stampede Wolfwood's look. Personally, I think he also looks too young in Stampede. I like Stampede overall, but a lot of the characters are really kind of "overly anime" young-look there and most of them are kind of washed out of color from the original and from color/cover manga art.
it is frustrating to see the new trigun get a bunch of hype but very little discussion of wolfwood’s whitewashing. millie to a lesser extent but i feel like people actually talked about being mad about that. wolfwood’s stuff is complete silence
#um... and I'm not inclined to take “whitewashing” complaints seriously actually most of the time...#I feel like people complain too much on characters who are actually kind of ambiguous#I mean I see people complain about Rem being “whitewashed” and she was fairly pale in the original!#except in dark lighting#a creator interview indicates that she is supposed to be Asian#but that doesn't always translate to dark - I personally think she's Japanese or Japanese / American#she did somehow take up a level in pale in Stampede#in my headcanon I blame spaceship lighting and only getting Plant-created UV over solar UV#I do headcanon wolfwood as likely Hispanic though#and he IS darker in the original#except for the weirdness in Badlands Rumble#I'm white and of mostly Nordic descent but I grew up in Arizona#and as someone whose whole entire family despite whiteness got tan as leather every summer there#I think everyone on Planet Gunsmoke is too pale#even vash#Plants must come with in-built SPF Infinity sunscreen#millie is not whitewashed in Stampede becasue she is nonexistent in Stampede#she's supposed to show up in Stargaze but we haven't seen her yet

hey so how do you think Dick Grayson would deal with him not liking his s/o has a list of 2d men they’d commit to life too and he doesn’t like it, like your post, but then his s/o hard laughs cuz he’s getting so upset and trying to one up the 2d men, and s/o points out “oh my gosh. You don’t see it do you? You and these 2d men are similar to each other”? (Think Vash the stampede or Nightcrawler from marvel comics, any others things you can think of).

“No.”
He stubbornly stands by his verdict. Didn’t matter he watched fourteen plus hours of movies and TV series with you and enjoyed it. Nor reading through and getting engrossed with the comics. He’s nothing like Matt Murdock and Matt Murdock is nothing like him. There are so many things that are different between him and the character that he doesn’t know where to start.
Like, listen. He’s faster, stronger, better, and prettier than the other. He’s been in the business way longer, since he was eight mind you, that he’s obligated to go “pro reacts to [x]” and analyze everything Daredevil does in every crime fighting scene. Gingers are so last year, this year black hair is making a comeback. Plus, on top of all that, he’s much cooler and has a better taste in people. Exhibit A: you, the most perfect person in the whole universe and his one and only love.
“You do realize he’s not real.” You raise an eyebrow, though your smile doesn’t go unnoticed.
“Exactly. I am and he’s not. Therefore,” he exaggeratedly waves his hand towards himself, “why need him when you can have a real-life package right here and now?”
He huffs, not appreciating the sight of you shaking your head in disbelief. What is it the other has that he doesn’t? He’s a vigilante. He’s got the face and body. Is it because he’s real and not a fictional character? Fine then.
“Well, then is it him or me?”
“Oh my- You can’t be serious.” You bet he’s serious when he harrumphs and turns his head away. Cheeks puffed, eyes closed and eyebrows furrowed- he has no intention of letting up his tantrum until you tell him your answer. The right answer.
He starts to frown when he hears you sigh, offended by it. Excuse you but what do you think you’re doing? Here he is, bothered over some 2D man and you’re exasperated? Just what- oh. Suddenly, your lips are on his cheek, your hands on his arm for leverage.
“Why are you getting jealous over a guy I treat as unreal when you’re the only one I would kiss, hug, and love like this?”
“...Even simping?”
You blink. “Since when did you know that word- actually. Nevermind. Yes, you’re the only person I genuinely simp in both reality and fictionally.”
There and then, he picks you up and hauls you over his shoulder.
“Dick? Dick!? What are you doing!?”
With a happy, silly grin on his face, he merely replies with “bedroom”. Though he makes a note in the back of his head to ask afterwards about having his merch since from the sounds of you, it seems like you do but of what he’s more curious about.

Stampede wolfwood has been given the confused young adult characterization beam its actually funny when it pops up in EP 7
When he gets asked what's his plan to stop this gigantic sand ship steamer and his reply in jp is just "I don't fucking know! With guts and determination (ガッツと根性)!" Gattsu to konjyou
ガッツと根性 is one of the most hail mary keep your chin up and press on term I've ever heard, and it's often used by characters in shounen who don't have a plan. Typically bad planners with bullheaded room temp IQ approaches to solving issues.
But it's not very often used together, it's usually only gattsu or konjyou on its own. Combining them is like making the strongest cocktail of "god help me I DONT KNOW but we gotta DO SOMETHING"
It's so hail Mary they turned the term into a tee

I wouldn't be caught outside wearing this bc it's too otaku for me but it's so funny
(random note, I also found the term connected to this song from 1995 with 9.7M views: Gattsu da ze! by Ulfuls. This japanese rock band is from Osaka, so it might be a multi level connection given Wolfwood's Osaka/Kansai dialect lmao)
Edit I've been informed and holy fucking shit. Urufurusu and urufuuddo:

Hi, it's me again, I have a silly little thought
What would the Trigun characters do if you came to them in the middle of the night to tell them you threw up (standing over the bed or in the doorway like 'mom I frew up' style)
Oh my god this is so funny what a wonderful return request lol
“Trigang, I threw up—“
TW/CW: Mentions of throwing up but no detail given outside the after effects, written from the idea that the reader was actually sick and is an adult, not explicitly romantic but it can be read that way, Nai is an asshole but we all knew this, no particular version of these characters in mind except for Nai, goofy as hell, barely proofread and I appreciate spellchecks!
Characters Included: Vash the Stampede, Nicholas D. Wolfwood, Meryl Stryfe, Milly Thompson, Millions Knives/Nai
A/N: This was such a silly fucking post I want to give it a paper crown. These are a bit shorter than my usual HC posts (usually it’s 7 points each, but this one only have 5 each) because the premise is a lot lighter than ones I’ve done before.) Also one day I'll make my own Trigun dividers. And finish '98 and Maximum so I have another frame of reference for Nai. But today is not that day!
Likes and Reblogs appreciated and Requests are Open! It’s all under the cut!
Dividers in this post were made by @/strangergraphics ☆
🥀 Vash the Stampede
Instantly hits you with the “Oh no, are you alright?”
Sits up right away, even if he’s a bit slow about it. Even though you’re already up and out of bed he offers you water because he figures your throat must be killing you.
Asks a ton of questions. “Was it something you ate?” “Do you feel any better?” “Why didn’t you come wake me up sooner?” That kind of stuff.
He worries! Especially if you aren’t in town but are just. Ambiently out in the desert. Stomach bugs while your traveling are the worst, he knows from personal experience.
Might tease you about you potentially being contagious but that’s all it is, really. If you’re feeling well enough to go back to sleep he offers himself as Well Ventilated Sacrifice to keep you cozy.
🍭 Nicholas D. Wolfwood
I feel like Wolfwood can’t. Be woken up normally. Like you so much as open the door and he sits bolt upright, wide awake, ready to fucking go. Traumatized dog energy-- /lh
Then you tell him you’re sick and he just collapses back into bed. It takes him a second to like. Settle enough to respond to you and while he’s obviously annoyed at having been woken up, he doesn’t take it out on you.
He doesn’t have any medicine specifically for your stomach, but you’re welcome to one of the candies he has in his jacket pocket. "It’ll help wash the taste out."
After a little while, when he’s actually chilled out from being startled awake, he gets all soft and sleepy again. He advocates for you going back to your own bed to sleep, but if you’re insistent he’ll let you sleep in bed with him.
Do not. Expect him to wake up if you’re sick again, though. Now that he’s filed away the fact that you’re stomach’s not doing great, he knows that any bed movement or floor creaks are most likely just you.
📷 Meryl Stryfe
She doesn't fully wake up when you come to tell her. Like she has her head up off the pillow, yeah, but she's just kinda staring at you with her eyes half-shut and her brain obviously still booting up. You're probably going to have to repeat yourself--
When you repeat yourself/she figures it out herself there's another beat of silence before she does anything.
She has a whole conversation in her head about how you're an adult, you should be fine before she remembers you're her adult and would probably like a hug about it.
She makes you take some medicine for your stomach if you haven't already before you come lie down. And really I think she only lets you share the bed if you are absolutely certain that you're not contagious.
If you aren't, though, it is snuggles until dawn, and then she locks the fuck in if the stomach bug continues.
💼 Milly Thompson
Doesn't even lift her head I don't think--
Again, Milly comes from a family with like a thousand fucking kids, this is not her first rodeo even a little bit.
Like she rolls over, doesn't open her eyes, points at her bag, and mumbles something that vaguely sounds like "leftmost inner pocket..." and surprise surprise! She has some medical stuff stashed away in there.
It ranges from some mild pain meds to stuff for the flu to a tiny little bottle of stuff to settle your stomach.
Once you take that she just throws her arm back with the blanket. Medicine and a Warm Milly should have you on the mend in no time <3
🔪 Millions Knives/Nai
"...And you didn't go to Conrad because...?"
Listen, if we're going with canonical Millions Knives, as he is presented, I genuinely think if you told him that you'd just been sick he would sooner die than let you any further into the room.
Humans are already gross! And you just threw up! From your mouth! In his church! What! The fuck!
Not only does he send you packing to Conrad for an eval/medicine but he orders you to brush your goddamn teeth like yesterday even if you already did.
You're only allowed within six feet of him again when you're no longer considered sick (even if you weren't contagious) and he keeps that fuck-ass hood on for a good while after that--

Autistic Anime Boys Prelims - Propaganda Division - Group 6

Propaganda:
Kiriwo -
"Seems innocent at first and he's just a guy with a special interest in magic items, but watch out."
Arjuna -
"MASKING KING!!!!!! ok joke aside one of his biggest things is that he's super scared that if anyone gets too close to him they'll notice he's not perfect/has a 'secret darkness' (that's literally just a guy) and overall a lot of his storyline is a strong parallel for being neurodivergent and becoming more comfortable with accepting it. he's also super strict and hard on himself for any sort of failure that isn't in line with what's socially appropriate but at the same time he doesn't always have a good grasp on what that is which is how you get stuff like him blowing up a forest to try and impress someone. it also runs in his family bc his brother is autistic as hell too."
Sherlock -
"God, where do I start? I mean what Holmes adaptation, even if he's not the main character, would this be if he were not autistic coded? And our combo of autism and ADHD is absolute perfection, all tied up with a pretty, excitable face. Hit him with the crime hyperfixation and do not make him wear socks."
Apollo -
"Not canonically autistic but he has ZERO volume control plus he scripts/repeats stuff (“I’M FINE!!!”), sometimes mimics other people’s speech patterns (like replying “ja” to Klavier), sensitive to loud noises (stayed backstage at a concert cuz it was too loud) and bright lights (complained about the stage lights being too bright at the same concert + screamed when opening the hatch to the bright stage at magic show), and has been really into space since he was a kid, which could definitely be a hyperfixation (not to mention how he read every single one of Phoenix’s old case files back when he admired him). Plus he’s a little TOO normal, to the point where it circles back around to making him the odd one out, which is absolutely what masking feels like for me. Even when he tries to be fun and weird he gets strange looks/made fun of for not being weird in the right way. The list of autism symptoms is just a checklist for him at this point."
Heiji -
"90% of the cast in detective conan is autistic but heiji is the most autistic of them all."
Urara -
"Another alien who is so excited to dance with everyone that he does not understand that his intended purpose of inviting people to dance via water communication is brainwashing them into dancing and is causing extreme chaos. He nearly causes an apocalypse by being so excited about dancing but he apologizes and tries to make friends with Yuki at the end of the story. He is extremely soft spoken and try, finding it difficult to begin conversations and fidgeting."
Shu -
"speaking specifically about the first season but he was the "explains everything so the audience knows whats happening" guy. he was pretty antisocial (not sure if thats just how he was or if he lived alone [which was fucked up cause he was 11]) . im trying to think of more but my brain goes hghghhhggggh im just a big fan of him."
Vash -
"ain’t no way i’m the only one who’s submitted him. go look at the gif of him crawling in the dirt like a bug while he dodges bullets and get back to me."
Hyakkimaru -
"Due to a terrible curse he has lived his whole life without several body parts including his eyes and ears. Because of this he is often overstimulated and awkward in new situations (when he doesn't do what he does best, killing monsters and samurai with his sword arms) He can't say or express much, and often comes off as strange and creepy, but he is actually a cutie patootie full of emotions, has a big heart, a keen brain, endless inner strength and loves the people close to him! This adorable, cursed, demon slaying boy deserves everything!"
Kei -
"He has the tbh face. Also he canonically has sensory issues and gets sensory overload. He constantly wears earbuds. He has an extremely rigid sense of morality and considers himself a savior figure. He has a hard time relating to other people and is a bit awkward in his interactions."

I honestly don't know how I feel about the new dmc series
They at least kept "Humans can be worse than demons" aspect, but there's things that I don't like.
I don't like that they made Lady this person who just follows orders even when she knows that they're wrong. while in one episode, we get to see her have a change of heart or have some form of epiphany. I actually thought she was going to be a cop like character that goes by her own rules and using her resources to search and pursuit Arkham, while I thought the rabbit was going to be arkham, who of course was working "with" vergil.
I don't like how they made Dante stupid, like comically stupid. He's silly at times, but he's not dumb as people think he is. I didn't mind the "potential growth" of Dante's abilities, but I don't like how they made him oblivious to his past. His whole character is hating his father's side and protecting humanity for the love of his mother. He doesn't know much about Sparda, cause he doesn't want to. He buries that so much that it can't come up, but because of what was happening in DMC3 he had to come to terms of sparda and accept his demonic heritage. I don't like how they just say his devil trigger like an actual thing, they could've said "Dante must get in touch of his demonic blood" or "use his demonic potential" in that kind of beat.
I knew that the show is going to be a reinterpretation of the series like Trigun Stampede, but even Trigun Stampede's Vash felt like Vash.
The humor is alright at best, but I felt like Dante's quips could be better. The voice acting was great, I think Johnny Young Bosh did a great job switching to Dante, and Scout Taylor-Compton did a great job, too. It was nice hearing Kevin Conroy being a power-hungry bible thumping lunatic, like if batman actually lost his mind. But almost every insult I heard had to be a swear addition where it's not even needed. I felt like insults could be a little more creative.
The early 2000s era aesthetic choice was actually a nice creative touch. It complemented the hysteria of the early 2000s in America, along with the release of the series started. The music licenses they chose were pretty peachy as well
All in all, I'll say this. If know bits of Devil May Cry and this is your first step into the franchise? I think you'll kinda enjoy it. If you know the series and play the games? I'd say watch it with no complete attachment to the games.
If you want to play the games? I have a small list of advice for you to follow and let you know that capcom is doing a 75% sale of all the games till the 24th of April.
I'll most likely keep watching because of a certain character I want to see step into the spotlight.

Don’t mind me sprinting to try and get this thought in order before the Anime Expo panel. I need it to be out in the wild Just In Case.
So, a few of the Gung Ho Guns have gotten reworked for Stampede, yes? To varying degrees.
Ninelives is apparently not a horrific flesh mech, Dark Souls boss thing, according to the end credits of episode 3.
E.G. the Mine just got a HUGE upgrade and didn’t get owned 3 seconds after he showed up.
Monev was an actual character with a fubar backstory and emotional impact instead of just Some Guy who trained in a basement for years specifically to kill Vash. (and Orange is SO EVIL for this)
Elendira is. *gestures futilely* There is so much going on there but yeah. She’s going to be terrifying once she achieves adult body and loses (drops?) the childish attitude. Also because of the whole Plant hybrid thing her nails truly are literally infinite sooooo.
So I have some thoughts about Hoppered the Gauntlet.
In Trimax, Gauntlet’s narrative weight comes from the fact that he makes Vash remember, which by extension makes US, the reader, understand what July really meant. Before that we had heard mention of it a few times as ‘a city destroyed in a single night’ and talk of there being ‘no survivors’ but we had no actual connection to it, and also no real idea if that was even true. But in Stampede, we saw July happen. We were there. So even if Vash’s memory is still shot afterwards, and he doesn’t remember Lost July, we the audience DO. So having the Dragon’s nest play out exactly the same isn’t going to have the same narrative punch in the gut that it did in Trimax. It can’t.
There’s also the fact that, given how we’ve met most of the major players in the story, or had them mentioned at least (hi Milly), it feels kind of Odd™ that we haven’t seen someone has emotionally impactful as Gauntlet yet.
Unless we have.
We saw with Rollo/Monev that Orange is willing to have the person’s regular name be one thing and then have a second Eye of Michael code name. I suspect that is going to happen with Gauntlet; either because EoM or because he has decided on his own to lie about who he was.
And yes, I do in fact have someone in mind.
I checked myself the translation there is accurate; the only change I would make is calling the gun ‘gaudy’ instead of ‘shiny’ but that’s not a huge deal. Also for the record, the original tweet is from Jan. 11, well before he makes his reappearance for the season finale. So when it talks about a ‘reappearance’, it is talking about seeing him again in July. Original tweet here, tweet containing the translation here.
I think Chuck Lee is going to be our Gauntlet. That he made it just far enough out of the city to survive, but that he was badly maimed in the process, and that his family didn’t make it. He’s the ONLY member of the military police with a unique design. He has an actual name, and the director himself tweeted about his backstory. His gun is so unusual that we would recognize it anywhere. Hell, I referred to him as ‘the gold gun guy from episode one’ when one of my friends didn’t recognize him immediately. His gun is so incredibly recognizable. Almost like we need to be able to recognize him by that alone, when everything else about him has changed.
THIS could be how narrative weight for Gauntlet is established in the Stampede universe when it can’t be done the same way as in Trimax. Taking a character who has, in a way, also been with the audience ALL ALONG, who was there with us for two pivitol moments, the beginning and the awakening, but who comes at it from such a horrifically different angle and bringing him back in such an agonizing way. Because he was very much in the wrong with his stunt at Jeneora Rock, but his rage over the loss of his family in July would be justified, even if we know it wasn’t Vash’s fault.
(Also, the IRONY of him ending up as one of Knives’s lackeys when Knives is the one that caused all of this? Damn.)
Footnote: I have Thoughts on why they can get away with adding Milly to The Squad late. That is a whole other Thought but tldr; (and also I haven’t actually written it out) Milly is the most perceptive of all of them she doesn’t NEED an extended intro to Vash to Know.
#yelling about: trigun stampede#season 2 theory#posting this so I have proof if I'm somehow right#(I would scream) (so loud)#no one ask me how long I spent verifying that translation I am absolute trash at kanji (also I don't actually know)#trigun stampede#trigun#vash the stampede#hoppered the gauntlet#lost july#trigun stampede season 2#trigun stampede theory#gung ho guns#chuck lee#(I almost forgot him whoops. does he even have a tag lol)#please imagine me having this thought and sitting up like nosferatu#did I forget something? probably. oh well YEET

Do you ever think too hard abt Meryl and grief. And how she simply cannot let anything or anyone go
The most obvious example is her tenacity and insistence to go through with the story, bring justice and truth to the world, etc., etc. She's a character who is built to keep going and keep moving and doing and fighting— she literally cannot sit still. We can see this in her constantly tracking down Vash in the manga and 98 anime (obviously this was also her... whole job, but you cannot tell me there wasnt an emotional aspect to it by the end)
Point is, Meryl can't let things go. She needs to see them through to the end to the best of her abilities, she needs to finish whatever she sets her mind to. It's stressful, and we can see the effects on her psyche that that has. But this also, entirely, extends to people.
Obviously, Vash is the easiest example to cite. In Stampede, it's her who proposes following him and doing a story on him, it's her who takes the wheel and fucking drives— literally and figuratively, as in she drives the story too. But then, her tenacity and insistence also leads to immense, immense grief for her. Roberto dies because she didn't back out, and god knows she feels the worst survivor's guilt over it; she sees Vash in the Plant Soop and is right near helpless (or so she thinks) to help him. She has to see the aftermath of her insistence for the truth and justice play out on those she holds dear and herself.
Then we think about Meryl and the conjunction of grief and tenacity. She cannot let go of what happened because that's just not who she is. She'll keep going, of course, but she'll hold on to it and learn from it. She'll also blame herself for it and mourn and mourn and mourn.
I saw this other post about Meryl's earrings at the end of TriStamp, and that's actually what my main example is. The fact that her earrings are a combination of Vash's hoop and her bars. The fact that she's wearing sunglasses like Wolfwood. The fact that she uses Roberto's derringer. She can't let them go; she doesn't want to let them go.
Meryl's story is one of grief and tenacity and not letting go, whether it be for the better or the worse.
#trigun meta#meryl stryfe#trigun stampede#this is very stream of consciousness rambling because its nearly 2 am and I was thinking about meryl

Do you have any clue how painful it is to go from “wow yeah knives in stampede is a great villain!” And then go on the internet and see that most of the people who actually post actively about him are just into incest. And then reading trimax and realizing they got rid of your favorite parts of his character and slowly descending into “actually stampede knives is annoyingly subpar for how good the writing is everywhere else and in Trimax,” and also everyone who likes stampede knives mischaracterizes him to a violent degree for the sake of incest. Twitter is a horrific minefield where I cannot avoid it every time I rt something I have to check their account just in case so my timeline doesn’t show me incest against my will and literally I shit you not 80% of the time I see KV in their bio. Can I post paragraphs about knives character on my main smile
#and then 98’ knives is like fine. so all you have is the people who read maximum who actually know what they’re talking about#which is frankly. not enough people.

Visual Motifs: Tesla

So, one of the benefits of an adaptation like Stampede - a retelling, rather than just lifting from the page - is that they know where it's leading, and they can add context or foreshadowing. For some characters, they can even add presence. In addition, Stampede is required by the limits of the medium to do some streamlining. From all I've heard about their consultations with Nightow, their concern was with themes first.
But there an issue arises in Tesla. What is there to say or do for her? She isn't a presence; she's an absence. There's not much you can add without undermining the gutwrenching horror and thus the thematic impact of her character.
But Orange found a way. In fact, they found multiple ways.
Tesla can never let anyone know what she wanted because she was so thoroughly stripped of action or speech. While she lived no one cared to listen to what she had to say, and she's forever silenced by death. Nightow had to bend the rules to give her a last, ambiguous word.* Memories and assumptions are all that's left. Those are all undoubtedly themes in Trigun. I think it's all still true in Stampede, with an obvious exception.
After all, silence is a statement.

Congratulations to Orange on making it even more horrifying. Though I'm at least reasonably sure that she wasn't conscious in suspension... I hope she wasn't. I suppose it adds to the argument to suggest her fate in the manga was kinder.
It also opens the question of what happened to her in the Fall, but helpfully (?), Nightow had already introduced a means of resolving it. It tidily both suggests a possible future plot point and further characterises Knives in the way he protects what he loves. He says her discovery was to him "but one grain of sand", and he's a fucking liar. (Also, note Dr. Conrad in the picture on Tesla's file. Nai had to learn he was involved somehow.)

My trash boy never disappoints.
Personally I do believe it's jumping the gun to assume Knives actually bears her consciousness, but she had a profound effect on him, much as red geranium petals are now foundational to Vash's identity. While the icon of the Eye of Michael represents a number of things (I'm gonna talk about them too, if I ever get around to it), the variation on it used in the Windmill Village isn't so ambiguous. The arrangement turns up over and over.

Behold the single most obvious way Tesla's made more "present" in Trigun Stampede. (It's sure beholding you.) The motif of Tesla's eye is as central a symbol in Knives as geranium flowers are in Vash. Tesla might not literally be a ghost, but she haunts Knives anyway. He's determined that she'll haunt everyone else too, though they may not know it's her. In his mind, he's her avenging angel.

But he isn't the only one who holds onto her.

And a certain panel in Maximum...
Though those particular eyes actually represent the eyes of humans. Eyes weren't prominently linked to Tesla in the manga, but this may have been the inspiration.
Speaking of the manga... what about Rem? Though we know it or something like it occurred, in Stampede we don't see the confrontation with Vash where she confessed to her anguish over failing their sister, and how far she was willing to go ensuring he wouldn't be hurt. I understand feeling that it flattens her. The narrative is being dictated by Knives in that moment, who wasn't there to witness it and had a vested interest in removing Rem from the story.
That doesn't mean there's no sign Tesla haunted Rem. If Tesla hadn't suffered what she suffered, maybe Rem would have served an uneventful term as Navigation Officer before going back into cryosleep, while the SEEDS fleet peacefully continued on its journey. It was still because she failed Tesla that Rem adopted and raised the twins. Knives's anger/fear at the perceived betrayal by both Rem and Vash still led to him crashing the fleet, Rem's death, and all that happened in its wake.
It's an interaction we never witness - it may not even have been a direct encounter - and yet Tesla, through Rem, instigated the plot. And that's also still true.
Comparing the discovery scenes in Stampede and the manga directly, there's a change. The flower Rem left as a memorial for Tesla in the manga (looks like a white lily, which represents innocence and purity in the Japanese language of flowers and is often used for funerals) is instead a red geranium.
I'd chalk it up to reinforcing Rem's connection with the flower and minimizing the 2D background painting budget, except...
Almost every time the twins as children are together on the screen with Rem, a geranium in a glass dome is there too. The only time it's not present somehow is when they're visiting the Plant room at the start of ep twelve.

And when they find Tesla, there's a shot where this happens:

The red petals are almost invisible in the darkness... and then pop out when she's revealed, like a wound. As if they emerged along with her.
The geranium, to Rem, represents Tesla. When she can, she has it accompanying the twins. The presence of this small, red, glass-bound thing - suspended, mute, so easily stripped of its petals - is perhaps an inadequate gesture, just as Tesla herself never grew to be what she could have been, and adopting the twins may not make a difference. But Tesla can be with her family in spirit and her baby brothers will get a chance to grow. That's all that Rem can do for her now, a regret she bore until the end of her life.
In Stampede, Rem and her successors are positioned as Knives's most direct ideological opposition in a number of ways, and I think one of them is in how they honour the memory of Tesla. Would the twins' older sister have wanted the vengeance Knives wreaked in her name? Or would she have had the grace to hope the humans would learn better? Would she have been happy those who came after her were given the love and the choices that she wasn't?
She can no longer choose. No one will ever know.
And that brings me, finally, to how Tesla haunts Vash.
Unlike the manga, in Stampede it's not as though Vash has any reason to fear being abused, or dismembered, or consumed, or exploited. In the manga he very much feared all those things, and accused Rem of raising them to continue the experiments. He was very angry and frightened to realise he was surrounded by humans and he was "not like them". But in Stampede Vash might as well be a human.
That's definitely a way Stampede thematically diverged from the manga. Nai's the one who's perfect and more like a Plant, because of his powers. Right?

It's Vash who tends to be physically closest to the geranium.
In the SEEDS database, Vash and Tesla are in the same folder, while Nai has his own. There are all sorts of potential reasons, but in my mind it'd be because their colouring matches (yellow-blonde hair, blue eyes). It's Vash (his hands on the left) who notices there's an extra file and starts scrolling through them. He unlocked the database, and he caused the jars of what was left of Tesla to be revealed.

He wears red. Specifically his outfit is red over black - his shirt and pants. And his eyes are the first ones in which Plant patterns are highlighted.
Ever noticed that Tesla's missing both arms?

But it's hardly as though Vash is in any position to understand what Tesla felt, or what she wanted.
And it's not as though Knives, in his loneliness and fear and denial of responsibility, would puppet his sibling for the power to take revenge.
Right?
* Don't get me wrong. Nightow's relaxed approach to worldbuilding could have made her reveal in Maximum a plot hole, but it's not. Plants really are weird enough that just about anything seems possible. Nightow created the impression that discovering her remains was so painful for the twins they came to a mutual, unspoken agreement to avoid mentioning it, let alone using her fate as a rhetorical tool. When Knives finally does bring her up, it's just before trying to meld with and then imprisoning his brother aboard the Ark. To me, it feels like his declaration of total war.

Can I pester you for your thoughts on Dabi and Hawks' respective canon endings (if you haven't posted em somewhere already and I've just missed it)
Oh yeah, I did say I'd touch on that and sure never did huh. I got so fed up that I just ignored the ending and didn't feel like acknowledging it with a post anymore.
But I do have an answer for you. It's gonna be a long one, buckle up buttercup.
As for Dabi's 'end'.
Ah yes, fantastic message Horikoshi, if you're not a perfect victim and don't shrink away and make yourself small and hide away from your abuse/abuser - if you get mad and lash out then you should just fucking die. Your ABUSER gets a second chance, but you can just go fuck yourself.
(For a better understanding on how I feel about Dabi's story as a whole I got, what, 2 sentences in and had to pause because I'm sick as hell right now and a little fucked up on cold medicine, and I got so mad my hands started shaking and my heart tried to do it's best impression of a wildebeest stampede in my chest. (Emotional regulation who?))
Dabi is my ride or die, because I came from a home where my sperm donor terrorized me my whole life for the crime of being alive and having the gall to take after my mother. I have an unfortunately personal understanding of how he feels, at least in part, and his end in the story is what bothers me most, and will continue to do so.
Did he go about it the best way? No, I'm not a fan of the murder (arson I couldn't give 2 fucks about, destroy that government property babey) but I can't blame him for turning out the way he did. He went through literal hell and came out the other side torn apart physically and mentally. And I'd be lying if I said I didn't fantasize about killing my sperm donor for all the ways he fucked me up every once in a while, so I can't blame him for that either. I think it's a natural reaction to want to eliminate a perceived threat, especially one as traumatizing as one of the people who are supposed to be guaranteed to love you turning on you the way Endeavor did.
But anyway, I'm rambling at this point so in a nutshell; FUCK Horikoshi and his wishy washy writing and bitchass cop out. The end to Dabi's story is insulting at best and harmful at worst. It's very obvious that he was over My Hero, since he bulldozed over anything that would resemble a satisfying ending in regards to multiple parts of the story, but his handling of Dabi as a character is the most egregious in my opinion. I have well and truly had enough of this man (derogatory).
So now I shall move on to the man, the myth, the legend, the love of my life - you get it. Hawks. And if I'm being honest I'm not very keen on his ending either.
First of all, what ever happened to giving heroes more time to kill?
Ahem. Excuse me, getting a little heated.
Fucking give me that man, he needs to be sat down in a plush fucking armchair, with a mug of actual coffee, not that canned shit, bundled in the softest blanket money can buy, just relaxing and reading or watching a show. LET THAT MAN REST. HIS ASS HAS NO BUSINESS BEING THE PRESIDENT OF AN ORGANIZATION THAT SHOULD HAVE BEEN ABOLISHED AT THE END. THAT'S WHAT IT FELT LIKE HORIKOSHI WAS HINTING TOWARDS THE WHOLE TIME. GET RID OF THE HERO SYSTEM. BUT NOOOOO.
To be a little more coherent (hopefully) about it. It's not to say I don't think he could do it, I just think it was one fuck of a leap. That was some Olympic level stretching, at least in my opinion. I just think that man deserves to rest. He belongs in a quiet little house in the countryside and he has a part time job at like, a local farm or something and in his spare time he volunteers all over town and preferably Dabi is there as well 🙄. Give him peace and quiet, let him rest.
I honestly don't know what would have satisfied me canon wise for his ending, but HPSC president just ain't it. Again, I feel like it was Horikoshi catching the cooties for his own work; he just wanted to be done with it so he slapped together what he thought was the most likely of scenarios and just left it at that. In a word; disappointing.
I see a lot of people saying he should have died, because out of everyone of the heroes his death would have made the most sense and had the most meaning or whatever, and I can agree with that, but I'm still glad he's not dead. It absolutely is fucked up how disproportionate the deaths were when it comes to heroes vs villains, no one can deny that. But dammit I need a win, I need a fave who ain't dead.
I think that about wraps up my thoughts without me writing a god damn dissertation. Thanks for the ask, it was a nice distraction.

Signifying Meaning in Tristamp’s Vash and Knives S1 Designs and Visual Cues: Part 2
TLDR: How Everything but Stamp’s dialogue supports it’s characters
Trigun Stampede spoilers and potential Max/98 spoilers. TW for fucking episode 11 and 12 of this show I hate it.
I wrote this so that the order doesn’t matter and you can read part 2 or 1 first, though I ask of not reading just one part cause the two kinda work together? Sort of???
If you want a fun drinking game, take a shot everytime I mention the other twin (I’m sorry).
Vash the Stampede
Despite my overt support and gravitation to a certain twin in Stampede and Trigun as a whole, I actually started out Trigun like many, and empathised with Vash more. While not my favourite character at first, ( Wolfwood holds that title), the sadness I felt for Mr Vash after that finale was insurmountable, and now he’s like…guy no.3 I like. With that outta the way, let’s get started.
Ep.1 Ghost of the Man

It shouldn’t be a surprise that I started Trigun with Stampede, and later delved into 98 and Max, so my outrage at Stampede Vash’s design wasn’t so genuine. A google search later and I could tell that the difference however, was jarring.
We first get introduced to Vash laughing hysterically, upside down with his hair mimicking his original look and glasses obscuring his eyes (hold on to that, it’s important). Not the most charming of introductions, but a fun reference to sir Diablo nonetheless.
Meryl gets him down, and his attitude changes slightly. This mysterious man turns out to be somewhat approachable if a little looney.
This sequence already introduces a visual cue Orange loves to use in Stampede, the obstruction of eyes, the window to the soul. This is particularly significant for Vash’s character. His words and gestures suggest an open, friendlier nature, but we as an audience are kept at an arms length through this obstruction. Vash definitely makes no effort to separate himself or keep a distance, a good facade, as Vash still keeps his deepest thoughts and feelings to himself.
This changes after a bit, we see Vash’s eyes for the first time at the bar. Vash here has calculated the type of people Meryl and Roberto. This doesn’t mean he lets his guard down, but rather has decided on the best way to now approach them. Like a mask, Vash has now decided the best one to wear for this social charade.
Ep 1 is littered with moments like this. Another significant one is his encounter and our first introduction to the plants. We're shut out of Vash’s psych once again as Vash looks at both the dying and healthy plant, one lens red and the other blue, a visual of Vash’s internal conflict before we ever really get to figure him out.( And yes that is a Matrix reference, red pill, blue pill. Oh my god.)
Contextually we can link these colours to certain themes and characters, but we’ll sum that up later.
With the psychology of his glasses out the way, we can move on to his style.
Vash wears a big red coat, with a turquoise interior, a black turtleneck, black trousers and swept forward, spiky hair. He still has his signature prosthetic arm, however in this iteration, it’s made of turquoise translucent like metal. And of course, Orange kept his very important mole and left earring.
The bright red is undoubtedly pretty flashy in this drab, brown landscape. If you didn’t know he was the main character before, now you do! On its own, his look is, okay, not exactly groundbreaking but visually distinct enough for you to care.
The disappointment really lies in the comparison of this design and his 98/ Max look. It’s jarringly underwhelming, uncharacteristically new age (ew, new things!). They even swept his anti-gravity needle hair forward! This isn’t so much Vash THE Stampede as it is some shoddy pretty boy imitation of him!
Ring the bell though cause that is where the magic is.
EP 8-9, A Whole Lotta Red (and other colours)

(He’s so tiny here stooooop😭)
Our Home and Millions Knives is littered with the use of red. We’re able to finally give meaning to the colour that defines Vash.
Starting off with his teenage design, Vash is not much different from his brother. He’s wearing scrap cloth he found on this downtrodden planet, painfully human and painfully bland. To reiterate, like his brother, he doesn’t know who he is at this point. He hasn’t decided whether to embrace his past, as his childhood plant suit is nowhere in sight, or embrace his future, whatever that may be. A blank canvas with no solid attachments or motivations yet.
We’ll start off with the psychology of blue;
At this stage, both brothers are blank canvases, barely coping with, well, still being alive. Vash is unlucky enough to be taken in by brad and Luida at first. While some sympathy is garnered from Luida, Vash is still very much othered, until he does something for the wellbeing of Ship 3. It’s here we see again that blue from Ship 5, a plant! But blue doesn’t just represent the sole plant existence, it also signifies their safety and vitality. The blue of his healthy plant sister is the marker for some decency earned from the humans on this ship.
It’s here Vash is walking a fine line to be accepted. He may be a ‘monster’, but he did good, so he’s safe, he’s welcome. It’s here Vash sees what he needs to do to stay on with them in the hopes maybe they’ll forgive him for the Big Fall and being who he is.
It’s then he’s gifted, his signature red coat that doesn’t even fit him yet (awwww). A gift from the humans that took him in despite labelling him as a monster, something other. We learn, red now signifies the love he’s received from humans. This red coat is a living symbol of their ability to change. It’s all figured out.
Then he meets his brother, who naturally, is there just to keep us on our toes. (They called the ship Seeds specifically after Knives impeccable ability to plant the seeds of doubt into almost every 20-something year old watching this show for the first time btw)

The psychology of red takes on a whole new form. Everything is red. The dying plants, the warning lights, the pools of blood on the floor, (from Vash too might I add). Red takes on this meaning of violence, corruption, sickness, pain and death. Most importantly the death of Vash’s plant sisters.
With extra trauma to spare, Vash goes home to ship 3 with a red coat and a red bleeding heart for his sisters and very ambitious brother. Both the bad and good of the psychology of red are displayed, the overarching qualities of humanity.
Ep 1-10, Where Vash Goes Back and Forth

As our main character, we have the privilege of watching Vash’s internal struggle for a sense of purpose and value in real time! In the events of Stampede, we get to pick up a few pieces.
Now that meaning has been attributed to both colours red and blue, destructing the colours of his design becomes a lot more fun.
Thank you Silversora for actually bringing this to my attention specifically.
Overall, Vash’s design communicates a want to blend in, not stand out and well, belong! He’s not an idiot. He knows just as much as his brother the dangers he could put himself in if he fully embraced his plant being. He knows the dangers he could put humans in if he just, fully embraced what he is. In that regard, he’s a little bit ashamed of it.
Vash yearns so badly to be a part of humanity, to be accepted by the same humanity his mother believed in, even if it means suppressing who he is, even if it means being humanity’s showdog.
The tragedy of Vash’s existence lies in an overtness in both sides of the plant and humanity spectrum. Vash is painfully human, and would have easliy passed for one, if he wasn’t such an immensely powerful plant. His existence is dizzying in that its constantly oscillating between two extremes, I’d like to think, too human to be a perfect plant, too plant to be a perfect human. At the end of the day, it is not humans in water tanks. At the end of the day, it is not plants that raised him.
Vash’s coat communicates this tragedy pretty clear, its red with inner blue lining. Outside, Vash is as human-presenting as he can possibly be, it’s what he wants people to see. Internally, his planthood will never leave him, it's the shame, insecurity, he keeps behind this exterior.
And no I haven’t forgotten his black turtleneck and black slacks. There’s no better way than to compare that whole setup with looking into void. Fitting, and very similar to his glasses convention, it’s too obscure his body, his build and yes his scars. A terrible indication of his ever cascading self worth and bodily shame. (If you’re wondering where he got all this shame from, he’s holding on to Knives shame too so his brother can come back one day and collect it with 45% interest.)
Ep 11, The danger of indecision
Okay so we’re at arguably the worst episode ever now, but it’s still littered with visual cues so sit down and just trust me.
Ep 11 is jarringly blue.
I hate to bring the other guy into this, (I’ve done that 5 times in this essay already) but the blue representation in this episode doesn’t fall short on me, considering this is when “The Memory World of Knives” plays from the OST. Back to character design though, this is the unfortunate moment Vash is robbed of his autonomy, and his ability to choose who he is and wants to be. This is where a new colour is brought into the mix, purple.
But this purple is not particularly bright, being more of an accent to black with only his glasses being purple, (I’m going to reiterate here how his glasses are a visual embodiment of the window to the soul). It shouldn’t be missed that the geraniums that grow out of him in this mental warp, are a drowned out purple.
While all this could genuinely mean nothing and I’m wasting your time, I believe it’s expressing the danger of Vash’s foot-in foot-out fawning response. If he doesn’t decide who he is and what he stands for, perpetually living in a state of reaction and guilt, someone else will just figure it out for him and he’ll end up being nothing at all, hence the lack of colour and subtle purple (a muddy middle point between blue and red).
Hope is not lost though, and a second meaning is given to this particularly traumatic hue in the finale.
Ep 12, Where Vash Makes a Choice for himself

Despite holding an unfair amount of empathy for Stampede’s Knives, I don’t think I’ve ever been happier than when I watched his ass get kicked. The actualisation, reclaiming of autonomy and defining moment of Vash was incredibly therapeutic.
Vash’s forming of identity was definitely met with more resistance than his twin, but characteristically Vash supersedes Knives again in the transformation of his personal identity and purpose. Vash reaches a level of self awareness, confidence and acceptance that even his brother doesn’t get to until he chooses to ultimately off himself. The exceptional defining moment of Vash the Stampede starts here.
Now that we have defined what blue and red mean in terms of theme, Vash’s purple and black final form gains so much significance. The inner lining of his coat takes on a bright purple colour. As well, red and blue mixed creates a purple hue, this design choice symbolises Vash’s acceptance of his dual identity; he’s too much of a human, he’s too much of a plant. This is just the bittersweet nature of his existence and he’s learned to embrace it.
The outer lining and main composition consisting of black is just as important. While being a very clear reference to Vash’s black coat in his last fight in Max, the black again, obscures his form in this nighttime setting. While we know much more now, Vash is still and will always be a mystery to humanity and the audience; the chameleon in a crowd.
And yes there is Yin and Yang symbolism consistently in this fight. The black passive, female principle associated with sustainability and things earthly, dark and cold (yin code for Vash) and the white aggressive male principle associated with creation and things heavenly, light and warm (yang, code for Knives).
Phew…(Don’t make it weird though, I find the imagery genuinely heartbreaking thank you.)
The more obvious references and ties to Vash finally defining himself remain in his hairstyle, being in the style we know so well. It took a whole season, but the Vash we know is finally coming to be! He’s powerful, he’s agile and he’s determined to live for an active cause, not to simply erase the steps of his own existence.
In the end, Vash doesn’t really change much goal wise, and he ironically sticks to the initial coding of the plant’s existence; to be of service to humanity. But what matters is it’s now his choice and his choice alone. No more (entirely) motivated by shame, guilt and seeking repentance, Vash is now fueled by the love and hope he holds for humanity. He is Vash the Stampede!
And that’s all folks. To end off, I wanna mention something I learnt about broadway that is somewhat related to this analysis. Never listen to the lyrics, listen to the music. I think Stamp’s dialogue is genuinely ass and there’s so much to be missed if you kinda take everything at a surface level. From the character design to visual cues to the INCREDIBLE OST, you find that a lot is not what it seems and a parallel narrative is constantly taking place. While I hope but doubt this was intentional, I fucking love meta stuff like that. With the insinuation of warped memory, an unreliable narrator and fraudulent identities, the possible number of paths this show could take for S2 are almost overwhelmingly endless.
Hopefully in the future I can write an essay solely on identity and adolescence in Stampede cause honestly this is only half of it. I might make an extra part 3 on not exclusively character design facts and things I picked up about the brothers. Otherwise thanks for reading. If you didn’t read this whole thing in Philomena Cunk’s voice though, then I take that back sorry.

Whenever you have time, and of course if you’re comfortable, I’d love to hear some yandere headcanons for Trigun characters!
And if you want my help 👁️👄👁️ you know where to find me
Oooo this is so exciting! I had my first time writing Intentional Tsundere a little while ago, and now we got Baby's First Yandere Rodeo!
Trigun Characters as Yanderes
TW/CWs: Yandere (but you knew that already <3), mentions of stalking, no explicit details about any damage done to "the competition,” maybe a bit OOC but fuck it this is the space we ball in, Nai talks some shit in a backhanded compliment way, written with no specific versions of these characters in mind, barely proofread but I appreciate spellchecks!
Characters included: Vash the Stampede, Nicholas D. Wolfwood, Millions Knives/Nai
A/N: Please let me know if this is any good! I've been spinning the yandere concept in my mind for a good while, being someone who already adores a protective LI, but I've never actually kicked back and played in the space outside of a few concepts with you lol. And I feel very clever for using a GIF of flowers in a vase for this instead of a field to highlight the possessive/protectiveness of our lovely subjects towards their Darling <3 Also, I have some suggested listening for this post, if you so choose :3c
Likes and Reblogs appreciated, Requests are Open, and it’s all under the cut!
The dividers in this post were made by @/strangergraphics ☆
🥀 Vash the Stampede
Oh honey. Oh baby. The clingiest yandere out there. Like you’re never more than a couple feet away from each other at all times.
And I do mean all times. Vash likes keeping tabs on his Mayfly. I do think he tries to be like… “polite” about the stalking keeping tabs, but however you slice it it’s still an invasion.
Like you’ll think you’ve said goodbye for the night and will go to sleep on your own but he’s already in the process of scaling the nearest building so he can watch you through the window.
You’re just so cute and he knows you aren’t going to be around forever so he wants to make the most of the time you do have. Ain’t that sweet?
He still holds to his no-killing rule and generally tries not to hurt anyone, but oh god, does he feel like it sometimes.
Like if you’re traveling with him and you catch a stray? Even if it just grazes you or doesn’t hit you at all, there’s a dark part of him that, for the briefest of seconds, considers sending a bullet of his own right back. See how they like it, huh?
But no. He doesn’t give in like that. Besides, if your attacker was dead, there would be no way to spread the word about the Stampede’s Darling, would they? They have to know you’re off limits! That you’re protected! That if anyone comes close to hurting a hair on your precious head again, everyone will know why Vash is called a Stampede.
🍭 Nicholas D. Wolfwood
Okay so Vash is decent at covering for himself. Wolfwood is too but it’s in. A different way?
Vash will fall over himself with excuses. Wolfwood makes it sound like he has a point. And to an extent, he does. He knows better than most just how goddamn dangerous Gunsmoke is if you’re not ready at every single moment to fight for your life. And he’s lost enough.
You don’t get the illusion of privacy here. It’s like you’ve got a leash on him, keeping him at least five feet from you at any given moment.
And he looms over you, regardless of the height difference (The Punisher makes up for it anyways,) staring down anyone who looks at you for even a second too long.
He insists you share rooms when you stay at inns, and if you’re slumming it out in the desert, he’s either in the same tent or has his right next to you all night. He insists on keeping watch, too. Big guard dog energy.
A lot of the danger comes from him, he knows that, but he can make it up to you more than twice over if you’d just let him. He’s good for it. You’ve seen him fight.
Hell, he can be gentle too. He’s not used to it, but he can learn. For you. If you ask. If you’re patient. And you should be, because again, look at all he’s done for you. Because of you.
🔪 Millions Knives/Nai
Oh you’re not allowed to do. Anything. Like even a little bit I don’t think—
Like if we’re gonna play in this space of Nai being a yandere, you look me dead in my fucking eyes and tell me he doesn’t treat you like some china doll he wants to keep perched by his piano at all times.
He pampers you but it’s very much part of like. A flex in a weird way? Like the doll thing is barely a simile, he idolizes you so hard that you best keep your mouth shut for risk of disappointing him.
But don’t you dare think he neglects you. You’re always in finery, and you’ll never want for anything. And if you’re ever bored, he’s more than happy to play you music. And he even has a little shelf of books for you to read!
He talks about how his Darling is almost entirely perfect. You’re the closest thing to an angel a human could possibly be. Your spirit is too divine for your body! If only you weren’t so fragile as to break if he tried to free you.
If anyone so much as looks at you for too long he gets very defensive. His most devoted followers know to avert their gaze, and newcomers learn fast or are never seen again.
Honestly, he should be grateful. Those with wandering eyes… they’ll make good offerings for Good Doctor Conrad’s experiments.

Trigun Manga Reaction
Starting off with Volume 1 - Chapter 1
I will always love Meryl's design. She is one of the most memorable female characters from my childhood. My most distinct image from Trigun 98 is Meryl showing off all her derringers from her coat. I love her and Milly a lot.
So, these two images make me giggle.
Ok. I have to do a double take here.
Is the Note: Staunch Pacifist here a "break the fourth wall" type of situation or an actual info people in the story know? Hmmm... from the animes, it doesn't seem to be common knowledge that Vash doesn't like to fight. People kinda shoot first and never ask later with him. I guess the many zeroes in his bounty just wipes off the "staunch pacifist" info from their minds or they think it's just a twisted joke to ignore.
AAAWWWW BABY!!!!
BABY NOOOO!!!!! He was just happily eating steaks!!! This is far more cruel than a ruined drink or hanging upside down!
Sigh... Really... Vash... Just really?! I guess Badlands!Vash isn't too OOC when he pulled this stunt then he's still weirdly horndoggy there ngl.
That's a nice nightmare face. Did Nightow ever make a serious horror?
Maybe I am just being weird here but this panel is really interesting because of the lack of details on this big guy threatening Vash. From his chest and below, with the exception of his hand holding the gun, there is nothing. He encompasses about three-quarters of this half page panel like a really big wall.
I guess the composition is supposed to show how he is trying to dwarf Vash. It doesn't work obviously since Vash looks so still and detailed in contrast to him. Idk. It's just how it comes across to me.
Pouty Baby.
Classic Vash.
Aah... The faces of people wondering how they shouldn't be alive anymore, but they still do because the scary Humanoid Typhoon decided to use a toy gun to shoot them in their faces twice.
Baby Girl. You should be in Sailor Moon.
Baby Gremlin Girl.
Clever Gremlin Baby Girl Vash The Stampede
Wait... FOUR?! FOUR PIZZAS?!!
Oh poor TriStamp Vash. He got hit by inflation hard. He can only get 2 pizzas with his one bullet!
Ok. So the Plants design from '98 are closer to the manga. TriStamp is new.
Oh my my my...
THE BADASS LADIES ARE HERE IN ALL THEIR GLORY!!!
Peak designs I swear. I mean. TriStamp Meryl's design is cute, but it is nothing compare to this beauty!
Remember this exchange from the '98 anime. Didn't really understand it until I got older and realized on hindsight what these assholes really meant. Ewww.
I wonder if, with how sensitive certain groups of people nowadays, these dirty lines will still get past the radar when localized or be changed altogether.
Oh... This is slightly different. Milly did understand what they meant and reacted to it unlike in '98 where she is just innocently confused.
This will always be iconic for me alongside Meryl's Derringers reveal. When I think of Trigun, these are two of the four images that come to my mind.
Oh... Oh... So, this stuff happens to Vash during the first chapter. I guess the animes are a bit more merciful that they have this happen after a few episodes at least.
Sigh... Whenever I have a bad day, I'll just think Vash has it worse. At least I get to fix my mistakes in peace and with help unlike him... Poor baby girl.
#trigunbookclub#trimax journey#i forgot to say i also watched badlands! as soon as i saw a clip of el woowoo... i just had to#anyway this was fun#i can tell where the animes drew several specific scenes and designs from#i look forward to the next chapter!

thoughts on the tlk movies?
B E T
Legit my favorite Disney movies of all time. The original is actually perfect in every way, from the Hamlet-based storyline to the characters to the songs (✨chef’s kiss✨)….PERFECTION.
I LOVE how the deleted Scar and Nala scene was actually put into the musical instead of forgotten like the other deleted songs like “To Be King” and “Warthog Rhapsody”. Those are pretty good, but have nothing on “Hakuna Matata”. Although the scrapped version of Timon and Pumbaa mockingly singing “Can you feel the love tonight” will never NOT be funny
TLK2 was amazing as well! Definitely one of the better disney movie sequels out there, plus Zira ROCKED as a villain! Nice how we got some depth on Simba where he obviously isn’t perfect, but he means well and eventually comes around yk?
I’ll admit I haven’t seen TLK 1 1/2 from start to finish, but I’ve seen most of it and it’s ICONIC. We get to dive into Timon’s backstory and how he met Pumbaa AND THERE’S HYENA CONTENT? Like HELL YEAH. Also love the direction they went in story-wise. They COULD have had nothing to do with the OG movie until they met Simba but nah, they canonically were always there, we just never saw them until Simba was unconscious in the desert. Like they were there during “Be Prepared” watching the hyenas and also happened to be in the gorge running from the stampede
“Shall we run for our lives?”
“Oh yes, let’s.”
“AAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHH”
😭
Although my favorite part has to be where Timon “proposes” to Shenzi as a distraction and she’s just there DUMBFOUNDED bfhfhrhrtf
Also Digguh Tunnuh fucking SLAPS and you cannot tell me otherwise
#thanks for the ask!#god bunga would have a BALL if he learned about the events of tlk 1 1/2#that’d be a fun story to tell#the lion king
